Energy Evolution Middle East Hailed a Great Success
“Energy evolution is the concern of governments worldwide and this morning I would like to leave you with the message that NOGA in Bahrain has taken action on our energy evolution journey to protect the environment, and we see the next decade as a breakthrough for clean technologies and alternative energy. To make such a paradigm shift in sustainable energy, the right and proper political and economic atmosphere must be created; this is embodied in Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030.”
H.E. Abdul Hussain Bin Ali Mirza, Minister for Oil and Gas Affairs and Chairman of the National Oil and Gas Authority (NOGA), Bahrain

Yvo De Boer, Executive Secretary, UNFCCC – “It is important that the commercial perspectives of environmental challenges are met. Through efficiency and clean technologies this can be achieved.”
Mohamed Hamel, Senior Advisor, OPEC – “The opportunities arising through efficiency and clean technologies to support long term stability is paramount to future global production and the right balance must be found between green and brown field investments.”
H.E. Abdullah Al Shehri, Governor, ECRA – “The political will is there in the Kingdom and the practicalities to achieve this will soon be in place to support the integration of renewable and alternative forms of power within the Kingdom.”
Ahmad O Al-Khowaiter, Director NBED, Saudi Aramco – “Efficiency and clean technologies are integral to our economic development. They are essential to our goals and we are investing in both solar and other technologies to support our core business.”
Dr Charles Kingdon, Director Economic Development, Kaust – “We have spent US$15bn building Kaust and have that again to secure its future. At the heart of our strategy is the development of clean technologies to support economic diversification with the Kingdom.”
In 2011 we will benchmark strategies and look directly at the arising investment opportunities. We will examine the year on year shift towards more efficient practices and the ‘access to market’ challenges that will face alternative power provision in the region.
We will also, welcome back some of the key speakers from 2010 who will discuss the opportunities and changes they have seen over the past year and how in 2012, they will further develop this important industrial strategy.
We would like to thank all of you who took part in this important meeting, both in the programme and from the floor. The feedback has been very strong for such forward thinking dialogue to continue and we look forward to seeing you all next year where we will endeavour to do just that!
